The past experiences with cooking rice in an ordinary pot turned out to be quite unnerving for many of my acquaintances and myself as well. It could obviously be seen that she could not possibly hide her intense and eager enjoyment about having it; it was a sort of revelation to her. As you have probably guessed, I decided to treat myself to one of those smart kitchen machines since I am so eager for new experiences, and here’s what I’ve discovered:

Don't Be Fooled by Its Name!

The purchasing choice was far from easy as every single of Bilablau Rice Cookers had superior features, I’ve finally resolved to buy one by Tristar company, Rice Cooker RK-6117 being its official name. Although I know I would not go wrong with any of their products as their technical characteristics are so akin and they operate using almost identical principle, I had no regrets investing in this particular one. That being said, I must say that I absolutely love it! You’d be surprised but the number of dishes you can prepare in this cooker is verily huge. Knowing that I could cook beans, lentils, soups, pasta, vegetables, meats and seafood in it has awaken my interest, making me realize that cooking could really become something that I can find genuine pleasure in.

  • Then, add in all seasonings and let it simmer for another full cycle on the rice cooker.

Hard – Boiled Eggs

And now something incredibly easy that certainly doesn’t require any special culinary mastery: simple boiled eggs. Whether you cook one or a dozen, the result will be exactly the same: perfectly boiled eggs that you don’t have to watch over at all: just let the Rice Cooker do its job and come back in 25 minutes when the eggs are completely boiled. The subsequent peeling process is ridiculously easy, saves time and produces tasty, creamy eggs every time.

Ingredients:

  • 12 eggs (or less)
  • 2 cups water

Instructions:

  • Pour water into the Rice Cooker
  • Place the eggs in the inner pan
  • Turn the Cooker on, cover and cook for 25 minutes
  • When they’re done, immediately rinse cooked eggs in cold water.
  • Peel and enjoy!
  • Optionally, boil them with rice.

Mac & Cheese

Given that the cheese consumptions is incessantly growing all around the world. Macaroni and Cheese is widely recognized as the ultimate childhood/comfort food that can be easily made in the Rice Cooker.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pasta
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese

Method:

  • Put the first 3 ingredients in the Rice Cooker and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Open the lid, add milk and cheese, stir, close the lid and cook for another 20 minutes (25 if you want a crust on the bottom).
  • Serve
  • Optionally, add a cup of finely chopped broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, butternut squash or frozen peas.
  • Enjoy your meal!

Rice Pudding

Finally, something for fervent gourmets that will tickle your taste buds. Rice puddings demands for the following ingredients:

  • 3 3/4 cups whole milk or coconut milk, divided
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Cinnamon, to taste

 

  • Combine 2 ¾ cups of the milk, rice, sugar, and cinnamon in the Rice Cooker.
  • Cover and cook for about 20 minutes/one cycle.
  • Stir in the remaining milk, and chill.
  • If desired, season with additional cinnamon and serve

As you could see, this reliable appliance is way more than just a Rice Cooker. You are presented with the possibility to use it for whatever you can possibly think of. Plus, this device has set-and-forget, configured setting: just measure the ingredients, place them in the cooker and set the timer accordingly.
